Job Description
The General Assembly Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance team in ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all manufacturing equipment and systems within the General Assembly area. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards.
Core Hours: 5:00pm - 1:00am
Shift is subject to change based on business needs; Must be willing to work any shift.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of supervisors, specialists, and skilled trades in the General Assembly area
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and automation issues
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support operational goals
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies
Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles
Maintain accurate maintenance records and generate reports on equipment performance and downtime
Support capital projects and equipment installations as needed
Direct activities around troubleshooting and programming in of the following: controls, robotics, drives and system level communication systems, glass cell systems, various conveyance systems, vision systems and sensors use and application.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or High School Diploma and minimum of 6 years of industrial automation maintenance experience, including some supervisory experience
Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees within all areas of the Plant from hourly represented employees to Senior Leadership as required
Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to coach / mentor / develop team members
Goal oriented self-starter with ability to lead team
Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
Troubleshooting and programming experience in one of the following: controls, robotics, drives and system level communication systems, sealing systems, glass cell systems, various conveyance systems, welding - all types, paint process and associated systems, vision systems and sensors use and application.
Experience with machine, systems operation and integration
Must possess a working knowledge of advanced technical problem-solving tools
Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in technical/engineering field (i.e., BSME or BSEE)
Previous experience working in a union environment
Production/maintenance supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
Familiar with World Class Manufacturing pillar methodology and implementation
Seven or more years maintenance experience in a manufacturing/automotive environment
Knowledge of welding processes (i.e. resistance spot welding)
Experience with Control Net Networks, Device Net Networks, ABB
Experience with RS Logic, PLC-5, Control Logics, Allen Bradley Drive Systems, machine installation, robotic automation and application
Experience with body shop, stamping press automation or subassemblies
Good working knowledge of Google Suite software programs
