The home health aide provides care and related services in the home. The HHA functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of the staff Registered Nurse and the Program Director and/or appropriate supervisor.

Qualification
- Must be a high school graduate or have a GED
- Ability to read and write consistent with job requirements
- 6 months experience is preferred
- Has the emotional and mental maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, client's family, and the personnel of the Company
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of client file or treatment information
- Must be able to pass a competency evaluation
Responsibilities
Tasks to be performed by an HHA must be assigned by and performed under the supervision of an RN who will be responsible for the client care provided by the HHA.
Except as otherwise noted, the duties of the HHA may include:
- Help client to maintain good personal hygiene
- Assists in maintaining a healthy, safe environment
- Assists with respite and companion services
- Plans and prepares nutrious meals
- Assists the client with ambulating
- Assist with grocery shopping as required
- Assists with certain treatments as ordered by the physician and approved and supervised by the RN Regional Manager
- Follow the care plan established by the RN
- Encourages the client to become as independent as possible according to care plan
- Attempts to prompt client's mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest
- Gives simple emotional and psychological support to the client and other members of the household
- Establishes a relationship with client and family which transmits trust and confidentiality
- Completes the daily documentation as it is performed and in conjuction with the plan of care
- Reports any change in the clients mental or physical condition or in his/her home situation to the Regional Manager
- Carries out assignment as directed by the office administrator
- Works with personnel of other community agencies involved in the client's care as directed by Regional Manager
- Performs routine housekeeping tasks as related to a safe and comfortable environment for the client as instructed by the Regional Manager
- Completed in-services as required by corporate policy, state and federal regulations
- Notify the office administrator of absences due to illness, emergency leave, normal vacation, or special professional meetings which will affect service with the company
