Juvenile Detention RN: Midland and Bay City area.
Pay Range: $37 - $41/hour
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN provides comprehensive nursing care to youth housed in a juvenile detention or rehabilitation facility. The RN ensures the health, safety, and well-being of residents by conducting medical assessments, administering medications, responding to emergencies, and coordinating care with medical providers. This role involves working in a secure environment, requiring strong communication, sound judgement and the ability to manage care for adolescents with complex medical, behavioral, and emotional needs. This position will split time between the location in Midland and Bay City.
Key responsibilities:
Perform intake health assessments, screenings, and medical histories for all new residents
Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with State and facility regulations
Provide routine and emergency nursing care, including wound care, immunizations, and chronic disease management.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and stabilize residents until higher-level care is available.
Educate residents on health, hygiene, nutrition, and wellness practices.
Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, behavioral health providers, and detention staff to coordinate care.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and facility standards.
Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and staff training programs as required.
Promote a safe, supportive, and rehabilitative environment for adolescents.
Qualifications:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
Current CPR/BLS certification
Current TB
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and crisis response skills
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a secure setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with youth populations.
Work Environment
Secure juvenile detention or rehabilitation facility
Direct interaction with at-risk youth population
