Wellspring is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families, and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a Family Preservation Worker to join our Families First Program, supporting families throughout Northern Michigan, including Emmet, Antrim, Cheboygan, Charlevoix, Kalkaska, Otsego, and Crawford counties.
In this role, you will provide intensive, short-term, home-based services to help families remain together and children stay safe. You will use a strength-based approach to help families build on their existing abilities, develop new skills, and access vital community resources.
Responsibilities
As a Family Preservation Worker with Wellspring–Families First, you will:

Adhere to the Families First model of service (strength-based, non-deficit approach).

Provide families with concrete services, including assistance with housing, transportation, home cleaning, maintenance, and repair.

Deliver skills training in areas such as parenting, communication, self-advocacy, and self-sufficiency.

Offer short-term counseling and crisis intervention for families in need.

Coordinate with external providers to arrange counseling, medical care, educational support, housing resources, and utility assistance.

Prepare timely documentation including service plans, progress reports, termination summaries, goal sheets, and weekly reports.

Present cases for termination conferences and recommend follow-up services.

Maintain 24-hour availability for clients and provide a flexible work schedule based on family needs.

Conduct face-to-face contact with families at the frequency required by contract and family needs.

Maintain weekly contact with referring workers and complete follow-up evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months post-service.

Transport clients in your own vehicle when needed.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services–related field required.

Experience working with children and families preferred.

Reliable, compassionate, and committed to providing high-quality service.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Current and valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance required.
Schedule and Compensation
-
Hybrid-Remote position – home-based with travel throughout Emmet, Antrim, Cheboygan, Charlevoix, Kalkaska, Otsego, and Crawford counties.

Flexible schedule with 24-hour availability as needed.

Team meetings and supervision held 1–2 times per week.

Salary: $41,000/year (based on experience and education).

Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel.
