Do you love music and enjoy sharing your passion with others? The City of Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department is looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Music Program Instructor to lead engaging and educational music programs for children and adults! This is an exciting opportunity to help participants of all ages discover the joy of music, develop their skills, and express their creativity—all while helping us grow and expand Kentwood’s music programs for both youth and adults.
What You’ll Do
As a Music Program Instructor, you’ll:
- Lead music classes and lessons for participants ranging from toddlers to adults
- Introduce younger children (ages 1–6) to music through rhythm, movement, and instrument exploration
- Provide more advanced instruction for older youth (ages 7–16) on instruments such as piano keyboards and guitars, focusing on musical techniques and performance skills
- Teach adult programs, helping participants develop or refine their musical abilities in a supportive environment
- Create a fun, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere where creativity and learning thrive
- Contribute ideas and expertise to help expand Kentwood’s music offerings for the community
About You
You’re passionate about music, love working with both kids and adults, and have experience teaching or performing. You bring energy, patience, and creativity to every class.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in education, recreation, or similar programs
- Prior experience instructing or teaching music (individual or group)
- Ability to play and teach one or more instruments, such as piano or guitar
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

- Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
