This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening.
Both qualified NP and PA applicants will be considered.

A total of one (1), 0.6 FTE Advanced Practice Professional (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.
- Provide care to pediatric and young adult patients within Pediatric Hematology (sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and general hematology)
- Direct patient care and management would include performing and documenting physical exams and histories, review of laboratory and radiographic tests results, and development of treatment both independently and in coordination with other pediatric hematology-oncology team members.
- Provide patient family education, counseling and support, collaboration with and referrals to other health care providers. Serve as a resource for the health care team members.
- Prescribe according to standard of care patient management and investigational clinical trial protocols.
- Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated for patient care and clinical research.
- Support clinical research mission of the PHO programs, including care of patients on clinical trials.
- Contribute to the development, modification and interpretation of pediatric hematology/oncologly guidelines, policies, and procedures, including quality improvement activities.
- Engage in professional development; attend continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature.
Nurse Practitioner
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
- Current specialty certification to practice as a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Current DEA registration required or ability to obtain
- AHA approved BLS certification
- Two (2) or more years of clinical experience in pediatrics
Physician Assistant
- Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
- Current DEA registration required
- AHA approved BLS
- Two (2) or more years of clinical experience in pediatrics

- One (1) or more years of NP or PA experience
- One (1) or more years of clinical experience in pediatric hematology/sickle cell or oncology
- One (1) or more years of clinical experience with pediatric chronic diseases
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as measured by references and interviews.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
- Demonstrated leadership in work setting and other professional activities.
- Commitment to clinical and translational research with experience implementing clinical trials and academic writing.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.
Hours: 24 hours per week
Shifts: 8-hour shifts; Monday-Friday
Location: CS Mott Children?s Hospital/ Pediatric Hematology
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
