Entry-Level Distribution Engineer
POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a full-time Entry-Level Engineer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in our Ann Arbor, Michigan office.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Entry-Level Engineer will apply their knowledge of engineering principles to the accurate and efficient design of overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV to 35kV).
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Learn client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations.
Understand and follow POWER's standards, procedures, and processes.
Understand and adhere to task budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Be capable of working both independently and within a team framework.
Perform some fieldwork, as required.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in an applicable engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
Must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process.
A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience
BSCE, BSEE, BSME degree from an ABET-accredited university.
Internship or co-op experience - preferably with engineering consulting firm or utility.
Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or ability to pass within one year of graduating.
Familiarity with distribution design software, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices.
Strong computer design skills, ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and aptitude for retaining and applying on-the-job training.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively with both inter- and intradepartmental teams.
