We’re looking for a skilled and personable Tour Boat Captain to join our crew. This position will begin as part-time with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role during peak season.
Position Overview:
The Tour Boat Captain is responsible for the safe operation, navigation, and overall experience aboard one of our passenger vessels. The ideal candidate will combine strong maritime skills with excellent customer service, ensuring that every cruise is both safe and unforgettable.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate and navigate the vessel in compliance with USCG regulations, company policies, and all applicable maritime laws.

Ensure the safety of passengers and crew at all times, conducting safety briefings and responding to emergencies when necessary.

Coordinate with narrators and deck crew to deliver smooth, engaging tours.

Maintain vessel logs, inspection checklists, and other required documentation.

Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the vessel, reporting and addressing maintenance needs.

Assist in docking, undocking, and securing the vessel.

Represent the company in a professional, friendly, and welcoming manner to guests and the public.
Qualifications:

Required:
-
USCG Master License for vessels carrying passengers for hire 100 Ton minimum
- Marine Radio Certification for Great Lakes Waterways

Current TWIC card.

Current First Aid/CPR certification.

Strong navigational skills and familiarity with local waterways.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred:

Experience in passenger vessel operations.

Knowledge of the Soo Locks and Great Lakes maritime history.

Mechanical aptitude for basic vessel troubleshooting.
Schedule & Compensation:

Part-time to start, with increased hours during peak tourist season.

Must be available for weekends, evenings, and holidays during the operating season.
