Purpose/Description
The Engineer-Licensed Professional Engineer will be assigned to the Permits Unit of the Engineering Division. The Engineer-Licensed Professional will assist the Senior Licensed Professional Engineer/Permits in performing engineering duties and to lead a group of lower-level engineers and staff in the Permits unit. The Engineer - Licensed Professional will perform various complex engineering assignments such as plan review for subdivisions, condominium site and large-scale commercial developments including stormwater system, drain improvement projects.
Responsibilities
Required Tasks
- Work with local municipalities and the public on stormwater management program for compliance, and maintenance.
- Assist staff and the consultants with the plan review process and permit issuance.
- Assist local municipalities with the permit process for the construction of their utilities and their SAD projects.
- Work with Management and Budget on financial aspects of the office.
- Work / answer the concerns of the public (front counter, phone, e-mails).
- Coordinate the office operation with other Wayne County Offices.
- Assist the staff in their daily review process.
- Assist management with their response to public concerns.
- Review of subdivisions.
- Attend the FAC meetings and community meetings when requested.
- Approve employees time sheets and time off.
- Manage and direct a staff of engineers and clerical staff. Approve time sheets and time off.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Professional Engineer licensed in the state of Michigan
- Must have a Driver's License and an acceptable safe driving record
- Six (6) years of engineering experience with two (2) years experience with Permits
