Under the leadership of the Public Safety Careers Program Director, the Fire Science Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Regional Fire Training Academy and Fire Science program. They coordinate the overall planning and implementation of the academy as well as assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Fire Science program. This includes overseeing instruction for the Regional Training Fire Academy and Fire Science program including scheduling faculty and courses, providing leadership, planning program marketing, maintaining relationships with external agencies, advisory committees, and industry partners. Responsibilities will include professional interaction with Michigan Bureau of Fire Services, Michigan Firefighters Training Council, and the Regional Alliance for Fire Training to maintaining Third Party Requirements and State of Michigan Certification. The Coordinator will also have responsibility for organizing the Regional Fire Training Academy application process, maintaining and monitoring student database and ranking, and organize adjunct fire academy program faculty. They are responsible for monitoring and maintenance of the Fire Science equipment, labs, and training facilities as well as ensuring supplies are on hand for all course and college needs.
