General Summary
Saginaw Public Schools Career and Technical Education Culinary Paraprofessionals are responsible for providing support to the Career and Technical Education program within their assigned classroom with specific responsibility for working with individual and/or small groups of students in a specialized area.

Duties and Responsibilities

Implement strategies/support for students in CTE program(s) to improve achievement in reading/language arts, math, workforce readiness and technical skills
-
Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials to support and reinforce classroom objectives in assigned CTE field
-
Administer classroom assignments, tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc.

Implement strategies/supports for special populations students to improve retention and completion
-
Collaborate/cooperate/coordinate with school and/or agency personnel to provide services for CTE students
-
Communicate with teachers to assist in evaluating student progress
-
Implement CTE programs and lesson plans to reinforce learning concepts
-
Instruct students, individually or in small groups
-
Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and manual/electronic records
-
Monitor students to provide a safe and positive learning environment
-
Provide support instruction under direction of the instructor
-
Reinforce academic and technical skills covered by the instructor
-
Participate as a team member to assist with problem solving
-
Participate in professional development and certifications as applicable
-
Assist in development of mentorship sites and student assignments
-
Assist in placement of students through working knowledge of individual capabilities
-
Discuss student progress and needs with instructor
-
Actively coordinate student clubs
-
Participate in advisory committee meetings
-
Assist in monitoring student academic progress

Participate in Bay-Arenac ISD Career Center school committees

Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
-
High school graduate or equivalent (Required)
-
A minimum of 60 semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university or passing score on the ParaProfessional assessment through ETS (Required)

Working toward a degree in education (Preferred)
-
Minimum of two (2) years work experience in the culinary arts and/or hospitality field
-
Effective communication and leadership skills
-
Ability to work with high school students across a range of abilities
-
Previous classroom aide experience (Preferred)

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
Hourly Rate
$16.09 – $24.16 per hour, depending on number of college credits and experience.
