Job Title: Kitting Buyer
Job Description
This role involves supporting the Ford Customer Service Division, specifically focusing on MRO - Kitting/Packaging. The position requires the purchase of goods, materials, components, or services in alignment with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Responsibilities
Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments, communicating any supply problems which may impact business operations.
Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects.
Monitor and advise on any issues presenting risks or opportunities to the organization.
Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
Provide analysis on costs, both new and existing, and review cost reduction activities.
Work closely with others in the procurement function to review opportunities for continuous and business improvements.
Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities for business savings.
Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and maintain good communications.
Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
Compile data relating to supplier performance for evaluation.
Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
Resolve supplier shortages and past-due situations.
Update and maintain commodity strategies.
Collaborate with cost estimating to develop cost estimates for savings negotiations and to mitigate supplier uplift requests.
Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.
Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.
Review open vehicles off road (VOR) and backorders weekly to expedite parts delivery.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2+ years of purchasing experience within the automotive industry.
Experience in OEM or Tier 1/2 supplier purchasing.
Intermediate Excel knowledge (Excel testing required).
Bachelor's degree in a related business or supply chain field.
Alternatively, 5+ years of experience as a buyer without a degree requirement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's and/or MBA is preferred.
Extensive automotive parts knowledge.
Supplier negotiation expertise.
Strong analytical skills.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams.
Comfortable dealing with internal and external conflicts.
Project management skills and process discipline.
Work Environment
The position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring occasional on-campus presence for purpose-driven work and collaboration. The work schedule is flexible within core hours, typically 40 hours per week, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr.
