Description
Responsible for monitoring accuracy of documentation including diagnostic and surgical procedure codes, providing monitoring of daily scheduling, coding routers and charge entry for clinic and hospital billing processes. Organization and maintenance of routers, MSR reports and all related physician billing requests while following organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Analyzes and monitors chart and physician documentation related to billing.
Verifies demographics of patient to ensure accuracy of billing and charges.
Organizes all incoming routers and hospital billing face sheets
Communicates daily with physicians, MA/LPN and reception staff.
Data entry charges for Home Health Care certification and all related processes..
Participates in data collection, compilation, computer input, and generation of reporting.
Utilizes ICD-9-CM/CPT coding system; assigns appropriate diagnostic and surgical procedure codes; acts as resource person for clinic staff
Completion of all physician billing requests and maintenance of MSR reports.
Provides clerical support services including typing, filing, copying etc.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information and records.
Undertakes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma
Advanced education in Health Information Management (HIM), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Family Practice Coder (CFPC), or Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS)
1 year of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding experience
Proficient in MS Office
Preferred:
- Associate degree in HIM or a related field.
