Description
Responsible for the delivery of nursing care within the assigned unit scope of practice following organizational policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice.
Responsibilities:
Assists in performing clinical procedures as directed by the physician/provider.
Collects, records, reports and maintains data.
Assesses each assigned patient, evaluates and documents their response to care and takes appropriate action.
Plans and implements patient care and provides patient teaching using Standard of Care.
Adheres to established principles of aseptic technique and infection control.
Prepares and administers medications and immunizations under the direction of the physician/provider.
Completes and maintains medical records, orders and documentation related to this position.
Assesses patients over the telephone and advises the patient per physician/provider and/or established telephone triage guidelines.
Oversees and evaluates Quality Control issues pertaining to the laboratory setting under the guidance of MGL Laboratory.
Oversees ancillary clinical personnel for technical skills.
Seeks to improve quality of service by continuously developing individual and unit competencies within scope of practice.
Assists physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants with office procedures.
Schedules appointments.
Calls in prescriptions as directed by physician/provider.
Maintains medical supply inventory in clinical areas.
Assists with training and orientation of new staff.
Communicates problems and identifies issues to manager/director and follows up and takes appropriate action as delegated.
Maintains compliance with all required accreditation standards.
Performs other related responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current State of Michigan RN license. BLS required
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification. Newly hired/transferred employees with no or a non- AHA BLS will be required to register for and successfully complete the next available MMG BLS Training course in their region to obtain the necessary certification. The AHA BLS course program may be completed outside MMG's training offerings but the cost will be the responsibility of the employee and must be completed prior to the next sponsored training course.
For clinics with the Rural Health Designation, Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), and Canadian equivalents, (MHC approved providers for the resuscitation certification) is required within 6 months of hire
Minimum 2 years of experience as RN
