Position Summary:
The Admissions System Analyst serves as a member of the admissions leadership team and reports directly to the Executive Director of Admissions. This position provides technical expertise and support to admissions offices through the development, management, and usage of systems, databases, reports, and data used by Admissions Communications, Graduate and International Admissions, Admissions Application Processing and Undergraduate Admissions to identify, recruit, admit, and enroll students. The System Analyst is vital to the admissions functions, providing administration for Admission’s non-enterprise Admission Application Management platform, Slate.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience that equates to four years.
Two years of experience working with Technolutions-Slate.
Experience documenting and leading training on functional processes.
Demonstrated understanding of business process models and mining systems for data.
Demonstrated skillset in SQL programming, CSS templates, and API development.
Demonstrated project management skills, including successful management of small to mid-size projects.
Superior organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple detailed priorities and projects and to meet deadlines, given frequent interruptions.
Ability to identify and recommend efficiencies in business processes.
Ability to work independently, self-motivate, and a willingness to take after-hour calls when needed to resolve urgent system-related issues.
Ability to collaborate across campus.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Serves as a Slate Captain sharing in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Admissions CRM .
Takes a lead role in developing unique solutions and configurations in Slate for several critical modules related to the recruiting communication and application process for undergraduate, graduate, and international admissions.
Manages annual admission application updates, including configurations, automation, testing, training, and monitoring.
Manages and trains individuals on the application review process in Slate Reader.
Maintains student records in Slate.
Manages automation rules associated with student records and applications, including but not limited to Application Data, Admission Decisions, Deliver Campaigns, Portal Management, and more.
Maintains data feeds between Slate and external vendors, building unique source formats or interfaces as necessary.
Tests all changes, manages annual admission application data updates, configures automation, and develops monitoring plans.
Conducts a full range of programming tasks including program design, program coding, debugging, and documentation for a variety of applications and systems, Slate SQL programming language.
Works in collaboration with the communications team and university marketing to develop and maintain student and other types of portals in Slate.
Assists in the implementation of Admissions’ multi-channel communication plans to prospective students, families, counselors, and other constituents.
Provides ongoing training and technical guidance to Slate users in Admissions and across campus.
Troubleshoots system and business process issues, investigates problems, and assesses both processes and the work of others to determine solutions to issues.
Remains current on updates, changes, and services for admissions systems and communicates changes to staff as needed.
Builds and maintains solutions to improve efficiencies in Admissions processes in Technolutions-Slate including, but not limited to form building, creation of event templates, Slate Voice functions, application review workflow processes, query building, portal creation and maintenance, and other tasks necessary to build and maintain the CRM .
Understands admissions and proactively recommends and implements enhancements to the systems, processes, technology, and procedures.
Serves as a liaison between Admissions and OIT and outside vendors for system implementation, support, and updates.
Works with faculty, academic staff, and units outside Admissions on projects of common interest such as admissions application development and maintenance and workflows while effectively communicating to various stakeholders.
Identifies, manages, and resolves issues related to admissions technology.
Works with other Slate captains to maintain and improve Slate functionality.
