Representative (Apprentice)
This role in summary
Whirlpool is looking for qualified candidates for the role of Representative (Apprentice) in the Laundry, Dishwasher, Cooking, and Refrigeration laboratories. These positions are located at Benton Harbor, MI. This is a four-year program with on-the-job training and required college-level classes paid through Whirlpool. This opportunity is coordinated with the apprentice, the State of Michigan, and provides the apprentice with a mechatronics technician certificate and Associate Degree in Mechatronics upon completion. The Mechatronics Technician apprenticeship program is accredited by the State of Michigan.
Your responsibilities will include
Will complete 8000 hours of on the job training
Complete the required college-level classes in skilled trades
Obtain a base level understanding of all the areas within the laboratory
Work on Whirlpool products as requested in Lab Request system to produce internal and external certification documents
Operate a wide range of equipment common to a laboratory environment: data collection, measurement, analysis, Microsoft and Google office tools, etc.
Work in all areas of the laboratory including safety, codes, performance, energy, electrical, structural, developmental, and reliability testing
Deliver testing and data on time
Show acceptable progress in a given area as seen through evaluations provided by the mentor
Minimum Requirements
Preferred skills and experience
Excellent communication and thought leadership
Ability to follow detailed test procedures & standards. Create test reports
Experience with or ability to use Microsoft and Google office tools
Ability to collect and interpret data based on instructions and to create documentation / reporting documents
Basic level of electrical and mechanical knowledge
Support lean lab process efficiency
