Job Summary
Manages and directs the Assisted Living Program and Independent Living Service Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain current knowledge of, plan, implement, and provide on-going evaluation of Catered Living Program in accordance with center and regulatory guidelines and accreditation standards under the direction of the Administrator.
Coordinate the management of Assisted Living Program with center's housekeeping, dietary, and maintenance departments.
Develop, implement, and monitor resident care services, including personal care, activities program, and health services.
Assist administrator in establishing, monitoring and implementing measurements and processes to assure quality improvement outcome monitors related to resident care and service delivery. Make regular rounds of unit to ensure quality delivery of services in accordance with established program objectives.
Conduct resident health assessments and coordinate resident care services with physicians and other health care professionals.
Provide professional and direct nursing care to the residents when needed and record. Monitor and supervise the administration and documentation of resident medication as prescribed by licensed medical practitioner and in accordance with center policy and procedure.
Admit, transfer and discharge residents as necessary. Audit resident records for accuracy and completeness; establish and maintain personal record files for each resident.
Conduct care conferences for residents receiving catered living services, perform subsequent reviews as required; make recommendations for change in level of care placement as needed. Schedule consultant visits as necessary.
Provide on-going leadership to staff. Participate in recruitment and retention efforts, including, interviewing and hiring. Assist in preparation and implementation of staff performance management including professional development, coaching, and counseling.
Assist the Administrator in preparation of annual operating budget and recommendations for capital expenditures. Manage assignments to meet budgetary limits. Serve as acting Administrator when required.
Job Qualifications
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
Licensed as an RN in the state of Michigan.
Experience
Two years' supervisory experience in a catered/assisted living or health care environment.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability and willingness to display compassion and empathy towards persons served. Maintains a helping role and intervenes when appropriate.
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and ability to work effectively with residents, staff, health care providers, and community representatives. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to speak, read and write fluent English.
Ability to appropriately assess resident's general health condition.
Ability to effectively prepare business letters, summaries, and reports.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to interpret data, including financial reports, identify areas of opportunity and apply logic to draw valid conclusions.
Ability to effectively utilize various computer software programs.
Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and customer service skills; functions with minimal supervision.
Works creatively and effectively with staff, clients, residents, and community resources.
Additional Work Requirements
Participate in an on-call availability system to staff and residents as required.
Mental and Physical Requirements
Safely lifts with proper lift equipment and transfers person served weighing average of 150 pounds on a frequent basis.
Pushes person in wheel chair weighing up to 250 pounds on a frequent basis, often for long distances.
Frequently stoops, twists, bends, squats and kneels.
Lifts overhead.
Frequently lifts supplies weighing 25 pounds.
Frequently pushes/pulls medication and treatment carts.
Near visual acuity.
Finger and hand dexterity.
