This Project Engineer position will be located at the Howmet Research Center in Whitehall, MI. This position leads the technical support activities of the instrumentation and thermocouple manufacturing teams. Assists in the development and fulfillment of business objectives. Responds to customer needs utilizing their knowledge and technicians. Supervises employee issues; staffing, identifying training needs, conducts performance reviews, and motivates/counsels as appropriate. Provides production support through troubleshooting, repairs, calibration, specification, design, and assembly. Assures calibration services are complying to all applicable quality standards. Participates in quality audit programs throughout the year. Writes calibration procedures as required. Ensures employees are qualified to perform calibration procedures. Coaches and develops employees to keep them updated on current quality standards, calibration procedures, instrumentation technologies and safe work practices. This position will at times travel to other Howmet Aerospace facilities to train, investigate or develop calibration opportunities to be performed by the Howmet Research Center instrumentation team. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor's degree in engineering or technology from an accredited university.
A minimum of 3 years related work experience.
A minimum of 3 years leadership experience.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work with computer systems and applications for analyzing data, generating reports, and developing presentations.
Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
Training and understanding of statistical process controls.
Familiar with quality control programs such as: AS9100, Nadcap and A2LA,
Familiar with ISO 17025, AMS 2750, ANSI Z540-1, ISO-10012, and ASTM procedures.
Knowledge of measurement science and methods to calibrate measurement equipment to ensure instrument accuracy.
Experience with thermocouples and pyrometry used to measure process temperatures.
Experience managing employees.
