Summary The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Housekeeping Aid Leader. The Housekeeping Aid Leader will function in Facilities Management Service. Responsibilities Duties of the Housekeeping Aid Leader include, but are not limited to: Follows instructions from Housekeeping Supervisors to lead housekeeping aids assigned to perform duties in compliance with established Environmental Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Leads housekeeping aids in performing various detail tasks, also establishes the pace for the group. Supports leadership and management of change within Service resulting in improved customer satisfaction. Stimulates a working environment characterized by psychological safety, civility, and respect. Attends and arrives to all meetings/trainings at designated area on time as instructed, in support of departmental goals. Guides and directs team members in accomplishing duties that meet the standards of quality and quantity set forth for the assigned areas. Keeps team members actively engaged in productive duties, plans and coordinates scheduled duties performed by the team. Ensures that employees maintain proper working techniques and standards. Is aware of standards, policies or methods in obtaining work-related information from the supervisor or written guidance Performs all administrative duties as assigned. Incumbent must be familiar with established sanitation techniques for maintaining an aseptically clean and aesthetically pleasant environment for patient care activities, as well as for the safety and protection of patients, staff, and visitors. Cleans floors using power scrubbers and buffers; washes walls using powered wall washing machines and vacuums with heavy industrial type vacuum cleaners. Sweeps, mops, dust mops, vacuums, waxes, and polishes floors; stripping and in-depth cleaning of floor surfaces. Communicates professionally and courteously to all staff requesting his/her service and shows a constant support for peers, supervisors, management and for departmental goals. Consistently exemplifies courteous/polite mannerism when dealing with residents, visitors, and employees. Is responsible for equipment inventory, care/usage and upkeep of all housekeeping equipment. Maintains equipment and makes minor repairs when necessary. Always reports all equipment that is in need of repair to supervisor, and records all information regarding equipment to supervisor(s) for repair. Takes appropriate action to correct safety hazards or deficiencies and promptly reports safety concerns which cannot be corrected by him/her to supervisor(s) or responsible party immediately.
