Michigan Senator Gary Peters seeks a Regional Director for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Based in Marquette, this position acts as the Senator’s key liaison to government, business, civic, economic development, community, and constituent groups throughout the Upper Peninsula. This position will monitor developments, opinions and concerns in the region and update the Senator and his staff accordingly, in addition to attending civic meetings, community gatherings, and other events, representing and speaking for the Senator in his absence.
This is a public facing position, and the ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communications skills, a demonstrated capability to work independently and generate new ideas, the ability to develop, execute, and track metrics for a regional strategic plan, and the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
The position involves travel throughout the Upper Peninsula, including overnights on occasion.
Qualified applicants will have several years of experience in government and/or community outreach and solid ties to the Upper Peninsula.
