Or you can work at Herman Miller as a Senior Manager, Digital Technology - Retail Systems and make both.About this OpportunityResponsible for leading and managing teams in the successful development, implementation, maintenance and support of Digital Technology initiatives to meet the requirements of Herman Miller business partners. Responsible for managing headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects and programs, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that the goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps. Maintains knowledge of current Digital Technology trends and strategies to meet existing and future needs of the business.What You'll DoYou'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, lead others, and be an owner every day as someone who . . .•Accountable for the overall chart of work within the functional area.•Actively participates in growth and development opportunities.•Approve overall technical design for solutions delivered on a variety of web based platforms. Owning review and sign-off of design elements and overall technical design.•Articulates the vision and strategy of a functional area in appropriate business terms.•Builds and maintains a strong network outside of the Digital organization.•Identifies and maintains external resource relationships; holding them accountable for deliverables.•Identifies individual team member's career development needs and resources/ activities to address them; participates in succession planning activities.•Identify technical design risks and develops mitigating approaches. Own the technical standards for the development and integration of technical solutions, UI/UX standards, and DevOps.•Manages large and/or global project budgets; accountable for expenses.•Oversees activities supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical solutions.•Provides mentorship to the team.•Represents and communicates their team's capabilities to business partners.•Supervises a team and understands the functional capabilities of their team and how that fits within the broader organization.•Work with the teams to review estimates for the technical solution. For agile software development estimate epic and feature sizes using agile relative sizing techniques.•Works with and provides leadership for UX Designers, Front and Back End Developers, and Digital Product Managers to ensure integration of design with back-end technology to create a great user experience.•Works with business partners to develop and appropriately delegate strategies and plans.•Approve overall technical design for solutions delivered on a variety of retail systems. Years•Broad knowledge of fundamental technologies used to support assigned business function.•Broad understanding of both Digital and business unit strategies and how they are globally integrated.•Knowledge of how current trends and technology may be used to support business partners.•Awareness of the functional capabilities of their team.•Demonstrated ability to communicate information, ideas, procedures and processes in a logical sequence in appropriate business terms.•Ability to effectively pull teams together from across the enterprise.•Ability to effectively understand underlying business needs of functional partners with the ability to anticipate and communicate solutions.•Generate ideas to improve team efficiency, effectiveness and impact.•Serve as a role model by demonstrating a commitment to business priorities, high performance and delivery excellence.•Experience defining business requirements, writing user stories, and providing detailed system and functional designs.•Able to select and adapt platforms as part of retail systems architecture.•Expert level understanding of modern, web-based architectures.•Experience in an ecommerce environment and with ecommerce platforms.•Ability to manage version control repositories.•Demonstrated expertise with retail systems best practices with an ability to continuously improve consumer experience.•Experience working in a SOX & PCI compliant organization.•Experience with NetSuite and .NET (C#) is a plus.•Understanding of Financial and Accounting practices preferred.•Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to senior leaders.•Strong collaboration and partnering skills with the proven ability to negotiate and influence with or without formal authority.•Ability to thrive in a dynamic and changing environment.Who We AreAt Herman Miller, our unique culture represents the collective attitudes, ideas, and experiences of the people who work here.
