Or you can work as a CAD Designer - Product Development at Herman Miller and make both.About this OpportunityAs a CAD Designer, you'll support Product Development by working with Engineers to design and configure part and assembly components through the use of Creo Design Automation CAD tools.What You'll DoYou'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, lead others, and be an owner every day as you...•Communicate frequently with Engineers and Managers on assigned project teams.•Create accurate engineering specification drawings and models to assist Engineering.•Manage all CAD activities within a project.•Participate in internal and external CAD user groups.•Participate in project and work team environments.•Set an example for others in your attitude and the high standard in the quantity and quality of work.•Work to improve your technical and organizational skills through continuing educational, training, and learning opportunities.•Influence strategic CAD initiatives with an emphasis on Design Automation using ProProgram and other Configuration tools•Mentor new talent by teaching CAD and PDM knowledge and skills.•Assist in developing and presenting next generation Creo Parametric techniques and processes.•Coordinate all CAD-related deliverables on major scope design and development initiatives.•Develop and contribute to new processes and techniques.•Create complex assemblies using advanced techniques to layout multiple variations of component and product layout interfaces to support assigned projects.•Provide complete support and pioneer additional functionality with Herman Miller Windchill tools.•Manage master model and top down design aspects of assigned projects.•Create engineering specification CAD models and drawings per Herman Miller and industry standards.•Assist Engineers in part/assembly design on assigned projects.•Problem-solve and pioneer next-level CAD and engineering tools and processes.•Communicate frequently and effectively with all internal and external business partners using verbal and written tools and technology tools.•Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.Sound Like You?You might be just who we're looking for if you have...•A Bachelor's degree in Applied Arts (preferred) or equivalent educational and professional experience.•Four years of professional CAD experience with experience leading large CAD projects.•Basic understanding of the current CAD systems used within the functional area.•High personal performance standards, the desire and ability to continuously learn, and a results-oriented work style.•Organizational and time management skills.•The ability to be self-motivated and to work and learn independently.•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentation skills.•Competency in producing product development models and assemblies.•An openness to new ideas and technologies that enable drafters to work and communicate in new ways.•The ability to be an assertive self-starter with the self-confidence and ability to represent Herman Miller in a professional manner in order to gain a high level of confidence from internal and external contacts.•A willingness to take ownership and efficiently work to drive tasks to completion.•The ability to understand the corporation's values, goals, and objectives, along with key financial drivers.•An expert ability to function in Creo Parametric which includes all non-seating component parts, assembly and product models, instances, and drawings.•A working ability to build product applications within Design Automation tools in support of complete product engineering specifications.•An understanding of basic manufacturing, engineering, and industrial design acumens in creating and revising engineering specifications.•The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.Who We AreAt Herman Miller, our unique culture represents the collective attitudes, ideas, and experiences of the people who work here.
