Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The successful candidate will teach courses in Graphic Design, which may include typography, print and digital media, motion graphics, professional practices, introductory and upper-level Graphic Design courses, and may teach in other areas of the department such as Printmaking that connect to the candidate's research expertise. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, work on an individual basis with graduate students, conduct a program of creative and/or scholarly work, contribute to curriculum development and other aspects of the intellectual life of the department, and provide appropriate professional service. A typical teaching load involves five courses per year.

Qualifications
An MFA is required in design, art or closely related field. We are seeking an exceptional designer/teacher with a strong research practice and experience teaching design at the college level. A research practice that addresses various aspects of design and social justice is expected. Evidence of creative work consistent with the expectations for a tenure track position at a research university. A minimum of two years teaching at the college level and evidence of teaching effectiveness are required. Evidence of teaching excellence and willingness to mentor undergraduate and graduate students from diverse populations is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with screen printing, letterpress, and digital printing practices is preferred. Digital skills and an ability to teach courses on user experience and motion graphics also preferred. Candidates who demonstrate interest in interdepartmental collaborations, and/or have experience working with communities on issues of design and social justice outside of the academic context, are invited to apply.
