We have an outstanding Contract position for aPrincipal Electrical Engineerto join a leading engineering Company located in theSterling Heights, MIsurrounding area.
Within electrical engineering, we have positions that focus on design, test, and manufacturing support. The candidate will be responsible for developing the concept, design, and integration of electrical subsystems and components related to military ground vehicle platforms. The candidate will be responsible for executing design trades, evaluating courses of action, and developing engineering design documentation such as trade studies to select the best design solution, product specifications, interface control documents, preliminary and detailed design documents at the system/subsystem level.
Conduct Systems Engineering activities including requirements definition and electrical architecture development
Develop detailed design and integration of electrical/electronic systems and components
Support validation and verification activities at component, system, vehicle test events
Provide engineering support to system production in a manufacturing environment
Research, plan, design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic and electrical systems
Perform complex calculations and develop complex engineering models and representations
Prepare and approve engineering drawings
Conduct or lead portions of requirements development, architecture development, interface management, verification, and validation
Work with stakeholders to ensure products meet cost, schedule, and quality requirements
Contribute to internal and external technical reviews
Use advanced modeling and analysis tools to develop product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration and verification procedures
Evaluate vendor capabilities, technologies, services, and ability to deliver required products or services
Recommend design approaches for new or improved products and processes
Provide engineering consultation to other technical groups
Conduct and support subsystem and system integration and verification activities, manufacturing and test planning, and failure analysis
Performs engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test, and/or product assurance tasks
Ensures tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements
Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations
Analyzes and interprets design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
Basic Hiring Criteria :
Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design
Desired Qualifications :
Ability to create and manage interface control documents
Organizational skills to successfully manage the release of drawings, author engineering orders, and track changes
Ability to operate in cross-functional engineering tasks (electrical, mechanical, systems)
Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey data, information, and technical results to customers
Ability to access and move about a military vehicle during integration, troubleshooting, and test activities
Experience in generating electrical design technical data packages
Experience in creating, reading, and comprehending schematics and interconnect drawings
Some experience in vehicle electrical system, subsystem, or component level
Experience with electrical schematic captures and simulation tools like OrCAD PSPICE and Mentor Graphics Capital
Experience in combat vehicle design, operation, and testing
Experience in hybrid electric vehicle component design, integration, and testing
Experience in adapting hardware and system integration of various commercial ADAS sensors into military tracked and wheeled vehicles rugged environments
Experience in advanced energy storage devices
Experience with power electronics at 28V and 600V
Experience and familiarity with MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464
Familiarity with DC and AC military specifications or automotive power standards including testing requirements
Experience in vehicle networking protocols tools such as CAN, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, and their associated diagnostic tools
MOSA (Modular Open System Architecture) Approach to designing vehicle systems/subsystems
