Description
The Actuarial Analyst 2, Analytics/Forecasting role is a new position on a team in the Employer Group department. This person will help establish metrics, provide data analyses, and support business intelligence for our Large Group fully-insured and self-insured block (101+), focusing on the following:
Development, analysis, and implementation of assumptions into rating models and pricing tools
Review of the pricing adequacy of those pricing tools
Analysis, review, and development of group rates
Driving improvements to our rating systems and processes
This person will work close with underwriters to determine the best process for assessing risk and optimizing that risk. In addition, this person will work closely with other actuaries within the department to implement rates and track accuracy.
Responsibilities
The Actuarial Analyst 2, Analytics/Forecasting collaborates with underwriters and other actuaries to understand business needs/issues, troubleshoot problems, and develop cost effective resolutions in occasionally ambiguous situations that arise in rating models for the Large Group fully-insured and self-insured block (101+) within the Employer Group department. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and how they interrelate and impact related areas of the company. Follows established guidelines/procedures, makes decisions regarding own work methods, requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Successful completion of at least 3 actuarial exams and at least 2 years of actuarial experience
Meets requirements for Humana's Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)
Demonstrated ability to communicate topics with individuals outside the actuarial space
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications
Strong Excel experience
Familiarity with VBA, as well as pulling data in SQL, R or Access
Health industry pricing experience
