PURPOSE
Prepares estimates of all size and scope including large, complex projects. Compiles and analyzes data to arrive at job costs that will be competitive and profitable. Ensures accuracy of bids. Determines which endeavors are making a profit. Performs sales and marketing activities and promotes the company. Manages contracts throughout the duration of the projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Experience in the analysis of actual productions and material costs vs. estimated costs.
- Prepares estimates on projects using drafting tools, equipment, and software applications. Ensures that bids are completed accurately and on time within pre-established budgetary guidelines. Review’s specifications, addendums, blueprints and drawings.
- Attends weekly staff meetings. Works with Managers and Superintendents to review status of projects.
- Builds and develops new and existing business relationships with General Contractors, Business Owners, Architects, Engineers, Clients, Suppliers and Vendors. Actively pursues sales and marketing opportunities on new and existing projects. Makes sales calls and fills out call reports.
- Monitors backlog and maintains an even flow of work.
- Works with Superintendents and customers to ensure that rigorous quality standards are met. Makes sure customers are satisfied and performs follow-up on outstanding issues.
- Prepares invoices and bills customers. Verifies invoices to ensure that pricing and quantities are accurate. Follows up on any unpaid bills.
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of company goals and objectives. Some travel is involved to visit sites and attend meetings with the other members of the project team, i.e., Architects, Engineers, Clients and Subcontractors.
REQUIREMENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS
- Three years commercial construction management experience.
- Ability to work as a team with other employees from inception to completion of projects.
- Leadership skills including ability to prioritize job duties and work under pressure, which involves changing responsibilities/workload.
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and problem-solve.
- Knowledge of commercial estimating, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgeting, and bid review. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical specification manuals, etc.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment related to job. Knowledge, understanding and ability to use construction-related computer software.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with internal and external customers, including employees.
- Strong sales and marketing skills to work with existing clients and develop new relationships and business opportunities.
- Computer skills include MS Office, MS Project & estimating software.
- Drug test and background check required.
- Good driving record
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience
