An excellent caregiver follows a pre-planned daily care schedule designed for residents and reports on any new conditions or needs that may arise.

Span of Work: Delivery of resident care and performance of housekeeping/laundry tasks.
Key Responsibilities: Provides a clean and safe environment for our residents. Provides care for residents, such as assistance with toileting, transferring, bathing, feeding, etc.
Primary Tasks: To ensure the residents are treated with dignity and respect and receive quality care according to the individualized care plans; as well as notifying the administrator and/or shift supervisor of potential changes to be made to care plans.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living. The following are unique to the position:
- Performs general housekeeping/laundry tasks and related duties.
- Assists residents with bathing, hair care, mouth care, nail care, dressing, etc.
- Assists residents with ambulation, which includes reminding and supporting.
- Assists and encourages residents to eat and take sufficient fluids and snacks.
- Assists residents with turning, repositioning, toileting, and personal hygiene (includes monitoring of bowel and bladder incontinence)
- Observes and reports resident behavior and condition changes – including weight change and signs of injury or neglect.
- Assists with all aspects of kitchen and dining room tasks associated with resident meals, including prep work, serving, cleaning up, setting tables and taking out trash, etc.
- Interacts with families and participates in facility or community activities.
- Assists with ensuring a safe environment for residents, families and co-workers.
- Awareness of performance improvement plan and quality initiatives being measured by Bay City Comfort Care.
- Participates in data collection and performance improvement reporting processes, as assigned.
- Attends continuing education activities.
- Maintains ethical standards.
- Displays a caring, respectful attitude when addressing residents, family members, and co-workers.
- Ensures confidentiality of resident health information in accordance with HIPAA.
- Compliant with attendance policy.
- Attends scheduled staff meetings.
Required Skills:
- Technical– first aid, CPR certification, adherence to universal precautions, on-going service, and training.
- Equipment operation– office equipment and various medical equipment, such as blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, diabetic equipment, needles and any other specialized medical equipment as needed to provide resident care
- Mental Effort/Skill– High observation skills are necessary. Written and oral communication skills. This position requires multiple task orientation.

- Key Physical Tasks– must be able to participate in one- and two-person transfers/lifts and change the resident’s position to accommodate resident mobility needs. Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and body fluids.
Education/Training:
- Formal Education/Training- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Industry-specific Knowledge– Knowledge of care related to the geriatric population.
- Company Practice Knowledge– company policies and procedures concerning resident care, resident rights, reporting requirements, general safety, and various emergency situations.
Pay: $13.00 to start
