About this Opportunity
As a Senior Application Design Strategist, you'll play a strategic role creating holistic product solutions for global workplace needs by influencing the direction of product and service development with insights from a planning and interior design and architecture point of view. You will inspire all audiences and planning channels with new ways of thinking by uniquely framing the problem/situation and showing the connection to new ideas.
What You'll Do
You'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, lead others, and be an owner every day as you... * Create visual tools to convey ideas through the iterative process. * Critique product ideas to assist in the decision of their relevance as well as any improvements or enhancements. * Develop and deliver advanced interior planning ideas with design/problem solving rationale. * Lead a team that will build a broad application library that feeds strategic digital tools for the field based teams. * Develop and deliver training programs for internal customers. * Engage in the design and development process of new products and services to ensure the applications' success and relevancy in meeting targeted needs. * Inform the merchandising representation of products in showrooms and other vehicles. * Integrate the breadth of critical needs and considerations into ideas, including technology, facility management needs, and economic criteria. * Provide constructive critique and critical feedback in an ongoing fashion, based on objective rationale. * Synthesize and articulate applications insight for audiences of varying levels of planning expertise utilizing presentations, publications, and other appropriate tools. * Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Sound Like You?
You might be just who we're looking for if you have... * A Bachelor's degree in Interior, Architectural, or Facility Design from an accredited program, or another relevant academic discipline. A Master's degree is preferred. * Six years of experience in interior design, space planning, or facility management. * Proven ability to create tools that equip the sales and design teams to navigate portfolio complexity * Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentation and facilitation skills. * Conceptual problem-solving experience for interiors. * Successful experience working with a wide array of contract furniture products to meet emerging needs in a creative way. * Research, diagnostic, and synthesis skills around a breadth of topic areas for workplace interiors. * The ability to work in a fast-paced, changing work environment at all levels of the organization. * Applied knowledge of issues/applications in contract furniture product. * The ability to work cooperatively both in a team environment and independently. * The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully coordinate the efforts of internal and external resources. * Extensive Herman Miller product knowledge. * The ability to use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently used in the Herman Miller office environment. * A willingness and ability to travel up to 30 percent of the time. * The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
