Position Overview

Essential Duties
- Analyze and track business portfolio trends to ensure the credit union is accomplishing goals. Make recommendations for improvement.
- In relation to the strategic plan, develop a target market list with high potential and initiate contact with present and potential business members. Collaborate with the Commercial Lending Leader and the Branch Leaders to call on key contacts and deepen member relationships.
- Use the relationship-building process and sales skills to promote products and services that meet members’ needs. Teach and coach others on using these techniques.
- Educate and train team members to know and understand the required documentation based on business types to establish business deposit accounts with the Credit Union.
- Responsible for the credit union’s visible presence in the local communities. Enlist a team including, yourself, to promote the credit union and gain leads through participation in business, community, chamber, and charitable organization activities as for the purpose of developing new business prospects and raising awareness of the credit union.
- Professionally resolve complaints from members and non-members.
- Maintain knowledge of current business lending terms and practices. Demonstrate the ability to recognize new opportunities and develop a strong network.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all credit union team members and work closely with other lines of business within the credit union to cross-sell products and promote a strong referral network.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Deliver on the Credit Union’ Service Promises in every service situation.
- Build strong relationships and coordinate with vendors to ensure a smooth launch of any new products the credit union determines are essential to the growth of business services department and credit union as a whole.
- Assist with training and implementing processes for new products and services and assist in training the credit unions staff to give them a complete understanding of the commercial services products and requirements.
- Assist in implementing the Business Services strategy and encourage others and yourself to accomplish the goals associated with the strategy.
- Utilize business lending skills to be able to calculate DSCR, write a loan proposal and coach members on the 5 C’s of credit.
- Coordinate with the Marketing Department to develop business related materials, promotional items, and a strong business presence on the website.
- Interview members requesting refinancing or rewrites of existing business loans and/or requests for new business loans.
- Assist members with the loan application process in person, on the phone, or electronically to ensure completeness of information.
- Work within Q2 to establish and maintain business levels with respect to member wire, ACH, and payroll transfer services.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
- Must maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Routinely clean and disinfect work areas (i.e. teller stations, desk surfaces, phones, electronic equipment).
- Protect the confidentiality of credit union staff and members by locking door or removing items from desk/workstation when away.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Business and/or Marketing preferred.
- Five or more years of consumer or business banking experience.
- Three or more years of networking and public speaking preferred.
- Comfortable on calling on new and existing members.
- Business lending experience.
- Knowledge and skills related to the account opening process.
- Must have a valid Michigan driver license and an insured vehicle to use on a regular basis.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
