Summary
The Material Scientist Specialist will deliver sustainable, cost reduction, quality enhancement and yield improvement through deep understanding of critical silicon surface chemistries primarily employed in the company in Testing, Finishing, and Chemical Operations.

Essential Functions
Key Accountabilities: Silicon Interfacial Chemistry
- Develop scientific expertise and rigorous understanding of gas phase and liquid silicon interfacial chemistry. Application in this foundational knowledge base will impact causal relationships regarding chlorosilane production in direct chlorination and hydrochlorination unit operations, as well as acid etching of surface impurities and removal of surface metals using anionic surfactant chemistry.
- Understand and have a superior capability in the use of data analytics, data manipulation, and experimental design in the construction of quality technical efforts.
- Serve as subject matter experts to assist in the resolution of current technical challenges and to project these solutions for the future.
- Documentation of the technical issues and solutions in archival form to be a definitive source of long term, retrievable knowledge.
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead small project teams to accomplish project goals.
- Serve as a technical project leader for capital projects.
- Assist Process Engineering with technology transfer into high volume manufacturing.
- Participate on Six Sigma Projects or as a RCI member. Act as technical expert to Manufacturing to address acute and tactical problems.
- Participate in discussions with customers.
