Summary
The Application Developer works with HSC Business Users and project teams to understand business requirements, determine scope and recommend design approaches. They provide development estimates, complete functional specifications, and develop solutions that meet specific needs of the business within the MES environment. The manufacturing execution system, or MES, is a comprehensive, dynamic software system that integrates equipment, monitors, tracks, documents, and controls the process of manufacturing goods from raw materials to finished products in real-time.
Essential Functions
- Works closely with users to define requirements and develop functional specifications.
- Conducts application design reviews for applications being developed.
- Develops new applications, maintain existing software code and integration components.
- Assists in user and system testing activities.
- May be responsible for production implementation.
- Production application support activities including reporting to management on support efforts and issues.
- Maintains a high degree of technology awareness of hardware and software within project responsibility.
- Participates in evaluation of new software products and processes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Organizes and manages individual projects or portions of large projects. This includes the identification of project tasks, organization of project teams, and development of detailed project work plans.
- Oversees the technical management of the project and ensures project efforts are coordinated to meet project objectives, budgets, and completion dates.
- Oversees the support effort for assigned production systems.
Skills
- Experience with C#, .NET applications, MS SQL Server, Web development and familiarity with HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS is required.
- Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) preferred.
- Experience in graphical user interfaces and user experience design (CX/UX/EX/TX).
- Requires a strong understanding of SDLC methodologies including Agile, DevOps, etc and the ability to write technical, support and requirements documents.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to learn quickly and independently and to work in a technically complex environment.
- Ability to engage in concurrent scheduled project/development tasks.
- Ability to leading small to medium sized projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
Work Experience
- 3-5 years development experience preferred.
- Manufacturing/Operations experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a similar technical discipline or equivalent.
