Summary
The Integrity Inspector coordinates, develops, monitors and performs the various nondestructive testing methods used in evaluating the condition of all critical production equipment so as to effectively support Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation production. inspector also provides accurate information and inspection reporting for Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and S&T teams at Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation. Ensures compliance of relevant regulatory laws and codes.
Essential Functions
- Perform integrity inspections (both external and internal) on piping, piping components, pressure vessels and other equipment using appropriate non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment and inspections methods. This includes calculation of erosion/corrosion rates and estimation of failure window.
- Document integrity inspections completed on piping, piping components, pressure vessels and other equipment using electronic inspection reports and entering technical findings in SAP per required deadlines.
- Make recommendations for corrective actions to remediate integrity issues found during NDT inspections following the site’s corrective action work flow procedures. Ensure remediation in a timely manner.
- Complete requirements for certification of NDT inspection methods as outlined in the Integrity Inspector career ladder in accordance with the Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation NDT Written Practice. Maintain these certifications in accordance with Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation NDT Written Practice for re-certification.
- Integrity inspection project leadership. Define inspection scope, coordinate assigned resources for execution of inspection plan and work with Construction Reps/Operations/PES (Planning Estimating & Scheduling) teams to schedule inspection work accordingly to meet project timelines.
- Perform welding inspections on welders from both the Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation Maintenance Team and contracted welders including documentation using electronic reports.
- Closure of work orders assigned to Mechanical Integrity work center including confirmation of operation lines within work orders.
- Participate in professional/technical growth programs. Gain certification in one or more additional API or ASNT recognized programs ( API 510, API 570, AWS CWI, etc) based on company need.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide support to Operations, Construction Reps and Shop personnel as needed to ensure corrective action recommendations are completed correctly and on time. May include responsibility for creating Purchase Orders and approving Invoices.
- Ownership of assigned SMP’s (standard maintenance procedures) and SOP’s (standard operating procedures) for pressure vessels, piping and piping components. Procedures will define inspection, testing, preventive maintenance, and repair/replacement. Adapt procedures to cope with the unusual/unique situations. Make necessary updates as needed and complete required reviews by review deadline.
- Collaborate with Engineering to update site and global standards including review/approval of welding procedures for process equipment fabrication and repairs.
- Maintain spare heat exchanger inventory, including preparation, inspection and cleaning.
- Purchase, update and repair equipment and software when necessary following the corporation guidelines and standards for purchasing and asset management.
- Participate on Root Cause Investigation (RCI) teams to help resolve failure causes on piping, pressure vessels and other related equipment. Includes leading RCI Lite inspections as assigned for documenting root cause of piping/vessel failures and recommend preventative measures.
- Support SAP PM Module and ISO certification programs.
Education/Certification Requirements
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must hold at least one certification to American Petroleum Institute Standard API 510 and/or API 570.
Work Requirements
Required:
- Five years of NDT Level II Experience or ten years of welding experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude in pressure systems and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise on various NDT inspection equipment (ex. UT meter).
- Willingness to learn and become proficient in the field of NDT and predictive maintenance technologies, and the continuous upgrading of skills.
- Familiarity with the ASME National Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASNT-TC-1A , API 510/570/653.
