Job Description
This position provides part-time subpoena service to the operation of the Investigation Division of the Saginaw Police Department to include; subpoena service to victims and witnesses of crimes.
This is one of two part-time civilian positions within the Investigation Division of the Saginaw Police Department reporting directly to the Investigations Sergeants.
Applications will be screened. Those best qualified will be invited to participate in an oral interview. Candidates must successfully pass the oral interview with a minimum score of 70% in order to proceed in the process.
Major Duties
- Use law enforcement computer programs, reports, and resources to locate the individuals to whom subpoenas must be served.
- Attempt to contact the designated recipients to determine the best way to facilitate subpoena service.
- Driving a fully marked police vehicle to serve subpoenas to victims or witnesses at home, school, or place of employment.
- Subpoena Service Officers are equipped with, police radio and Identification.
Job Requirements
- High School diploma/GED equivalent
- Retired or former Police Officer preferred
- 2 years of experience with policing or subpoena service
- Must become LEIN certified within 30 days from placement into the position.
- Ability to handle confidential material maturely and responsibly.
- Good verbal and written communications skills with ability to deal tactfully with the public
- Knowledge of filing, inventory and/or record keeping systems
- Strong organizational skills
- Must possess high levels of honesty, integrity and pass a thorough background investigation with a commitment to comply with confidentiality requirements and police policies, while being supportive of the Saginaw Police Department’s mission, and being comfortable working within a police environment
- Ability to work with attorneys, prosecutors and provide court testimony if needed
