Job Description Summary
The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering at Michigan Technological University invites applications for assistant professor, tenure-track faculty positions. Applicants for the positions are required to have a Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related discipline. The university's initiatives focus on building research in autonomous and intelligent systems, data revolution and sensing, natural resources, water and energy, and sustainability and resilience. Research areas include, but are not limited to, transportation engineering (safety, data analytics, infrastructure, pavements, and systems resilience), construction engineering (sustainability, resilience, and decarbonization; automation and robotics; cyber physical systems and digital twinning), and other emerging technology areas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses. Develop a sustainable externally funded research program. Be recognized by your peers for your excellence in research and creation of knowledge. Foster and contribute to a collaborative DEIS culture within the workplace. Engage in professional service activities within the department, university, community, and technical organizations. Employees are expected to apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work and commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)
Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related discipline
Required Experience (minimum requirements)
Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, and scholarship
Desirable Education and/or Experience
Experience in classroom teaching, designing and developing a new courses at the university level
Experience in leading and advising a research group
Writing research proposals and publishing peer-reviewed papers
Registration as a professional engineer or the ability to become registered
