Nature of Work:
This is a professional position, responsible for providing nursing care services for adults in the Primary Care setting. The Adult Nurse works under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor, Medical Director, and Medical Advisory Committee, but has latitude for making decisions of a professional nature. The Adult Nurse works in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the Baxter Wholistic Health Center.
Examples of Work:
- Helps coordinate the adult health services of the clinic
- Complies with appropriate OSHA, HIPPA and CLIA regulations
- Assists with the oversight and direction of Students and Volunteers
- Acts as liaison between Patients and Providers
- Acts as a resource for Patients, Staff, Volunteers, and Providers
- Advocates for the Patient when necessary
- Administrates the Adult Immunization Program according to KCHD regulations; administers vaccines to patients with proper documentation
- Performs telephone triage for adult Patients
- Documents appropriately in EMR (Practice Fusion)
- Initiates patient referrals as ordered by physicians; provides follow up calls and health education for Patients as appropriate
- Maintains Patient flow for clinics
- Assists with and/or performs procedures
- Assists Patients in application for various assistance programs for medications, testing, and specialty referrals
- Helps with Patient referrals to specialty offices, laboratory testing, and radiology testing
- Performs other duties as assigned by Providers
- Is a team player, filling in for all nursing needs, including Pediatric Clinic when needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current nursing theory, practices and procedures along with the ability to apply this into actual treatment of clients.
- Cross cultural experience, with the ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate competency with a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including basic understanding of e-mail, internet and computer navigation, and EMR
- A team player - willing to be flexible to the demands of the working environment
- Knowledge of community resources
Desirable Qualifications:
- Current licensure in the State of Michigan (RN or LPN)
- CPR, HIPPA and OSHA trained
- Previous medical office experience preferred
- Cross cultural experience
- Bi-lingual (Spanish- helpful, not mandatory)
