Member of the product development team with responsibility for the successful design and execution of pack and module components for high voltage battery technology for use in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). Responsible for conducting experiments, leading investigations and inspecting manufacturing process innovation for new customer programs. Define early requirements and translating them into detailed component/sub-assembly requirements. Responsible for developing and validating alternate designs to reduce costs, improve performance, and reduce mass to improve robustness of manufacturability. Responsible for creating the mechanical design and documentation, including feasibility studies and concept development. Expected to improve component/system level dimensional analysis and incorporating design measures and manufacturing processes to minimize dimensional variation. Further objectives include developing and tracking project timing. Develop and track project materials, costs, and coordination of internal resources. Collaborate with purchasing and internal resources for build and assembly. These duties include hosting internal and external (customer) reviews/meetings. Acts as liaison with customer, and maintains issue resolution database to coordinate timely closures of those issues throughout prototype stage. Responsible for the transition of development projects to production team for awarded business; and support internal and external integration/testing activities.
