Position Summary
Applications are invited for a Research Associate (Postdoc) position in the Hegg and Ducat labs. The project will focus on the enzymatic depolymerization of plastic. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team developing novel depolymerization pathways using a combination of chemical and enzymatic treatments. The candidate should have a background in biochemistry and/or molecular biology and experience working with enzymes.
The primary duties of this position will include cloning, protein expression and purification, developing and performing enzyme assays, and establishing key performance parameters of natural and engineered enzyme variants to optimize the depolymerization of plastics.
The position is renewable annually, contingent on funding and job performance. A start date by October 1, 2021 is preferred, but alternative timelines will be considered and should be noted in the cover letter.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Biochemistry, Microbiology or related field
Minimum Requirements
Minimum qualifications for the position:
- PhD in biochemistry, microbiology, or related field
- Strong self-motivation
- Experience in cloning, enzyme expression, purification, and characterization
- Demonstrated ability to conduct and perform collaborative research and effectively interact with a broad range of colleagues
- Demonstrated independence and ability to perform creative, high-quality research
- Ability to organize and present reports to collaborators and sponsors
- Experience and skill in preparing research publications
