Small Business Banking Regional Director
The Small Business Banking (SBB) Regional Director is responsible for the overall leadership and success of all small business banking activities within the state of Michigan. The SBB Regional Director will oversee a team of SBB Group Managers to execute the Small Business Banking strategy and grow market share in strong collaboration with their Retail Banking counterparts. The leader will deliver strategic direction and leadership to grow the loan and deposit portfolio as well as ensuring profitability of the segment while adhering to risk appetite framework. Will represent Comerica Bank within the business community and serve as an advocate for key external stakeholders. Additionally, will ensure close partnership with Comerica's major lines of business including Commercial Bank and Wealth Management through the development of business strategies that foster new relationships and deepen existing ones. Oversee and support projects driving process improvement efforts within areas impacting Small Business Banking including credit policy enhancements, loan pricing, digital solution enablement, and treasury bundle platforms.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement overall objectives to achieve desired growth of the small business segment.
Develop and implement overall objectives to retain and deepen the Small Business loan, deposit, and services portfolio.
Develop and manage specific market strategies in accordance with the Bank's national strategy to sustain current business and growth targets in the market.
Work closely with all business partners to maximize all bank resources for the benefit of our customers.
Actively lead and coach SBB Group Managers to successful performance through strong coaching routines and sales leadership techniques; provide feedback while holding the team accountable to business targets
Lead direct reports expected sales and service behaviors, utilization of Salesforce and the required needs assessment to create a consistent, exceptional customer experience
Accountable for recruiting, building, developing and retaining a high performing sales team.
Effectively utilize performance management process to ensure clarity of employee roles, responsibilities and accountability for performance
Actively lead and coach SBB Group Managers to successful performance through strong coaching routines and sales leadership techniques; provide feedback while holding the team accountable to business targets
Lead direct reports expected sales and service behaviors, utilization of Salesforce and the required needs assessment to create a consistent, exceptional customer experience
Accountable for recruiting, building, developing and retaining a high performing sales team.
Effectively utilize performance management process to ensure clarity of employee roles, responsibilities and accountability for performance.
Focus on talent management to develop staff through planning of assignments, developmental opportunities, coaching and management of performance.
Ensure delivery channels are used in an optimum manner and small business banking distribution network is effectively and efficiently servicing business customers.
Collaboration and Partnership
Partner with Comerica's major lines of business including Commercial Bank and Wealth Management through the development of business strategies that deepen and create relationships.
Partner with Retail Banking and Banking Center Leadership to ensure successful prosecution of the Small Business and Consumer Segments within the Retail Bank
Partner effectively with LOBs to ensure referrals to Small Business Banking are handled with the utmost care, speed, and appreciation.
Be the face of Comerica's Small Business organization within the community
Establish and maintain key community relationships ensuring strong advocacy for local external stakeholders
Ensure the SBB team is supporting and driving engagement with small business technical assistance organizations and financial literacy providers throughout the geographic footprint
Responsible for ensuring loan portfolio performance within risk appetite framework
Ensure credit exception requests are made with sound rationale, clear mitigants, and transparent oversight
Accountable for the region's overall adherence to policies and procedures of Small Business Banking and the overall Retail Bank.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university OR 5 years of senior management experience in the Small Business/Business Banking field
15 years of experience in the banking or financial industry
10 years of Small Business/Business Banking expertise with experience in loan portfolio management, lending originations, credit training, and negotiating terms
10 years of Small Business/Business Banking expertise with experience in treasury management sales and proforma analysis
10 years of Small Business/Business Banking expertise with experience in process improvements, pipeline management, and a high level of Salesforce proficiency
5 years in directly managing Small Business/Business Banking sales organizations
