The Iron County Medical Care Facility (ICMCF) seeks an Assistant Infection Preventionist and Employee Wellness Coordinator to join their team in Crystal Falls, Michigan.
This position assists the Infection Preventionist with the daily operations of infection prevention and control as well as develops and coordinates the employee wellness program.
RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Supports infection preventionist in the daily operations of the infection prevention program including clerical work (filing, scanning, completing paperwork, answer questions, phones, etc.), maintaining reports for employee and resident infections, contact tracing, compiling data, auditing, preparing department summaries, and presenting information to various committees.
- Performs COVID-19 point-of-care tests; collect nasal and anterior nares specimens for testing.
- Conducts health screenings of employees.
- Administers immunizations to staff and residents.
- Assembles/distributes notices and information to external agencies, healthcare providers, staff and residents as needed.
- Assists in developing and conducting infection control/prevention training sessions and education to staff and residents, as assigned.
- Develops and implements Employee Wellness Program.
COMPENSATION. Starting wage of $22.23 – $23.85 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS.
- Minimally, must hold either a Medical Assistant Certification or are a Licensed Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- CDC Infection Prevention Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks if hired for this position. Certification course is free and online.
- Previous experience working in epidemiology, a hospital laboratory, skilled nursing, public health or other related medical facility helpful.
- Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills with a professional demeanor that ensures trust and competence amongst peers.
- Proficiency with computers and general office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet).
- Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize tasks.
