The Manager, Learning & Development is responsible for the development and execution of training for the assigned technical area (Gas Operations, Electric &/or DTS Distribution) and provides input into the strategy. The Manager will partner with operations and union leadership to ensure training needs are being met. The incumbent will lead a team of instructors to ensure they are skilled up to support operations and are engaged and empowered to meet company goals, schedule training and allocate resources to meet operations needs.
Responsibilities:
Lead team of instructors to meet Operational training needs using our Culture Mindsets as the guiding tool.
Meet with Operations Leadership on a regular basis to build relationships and plan out long term strategy for Training needs.
Work cross functionally with Health, Safety and Environmental training to schedule initial training for new hires.
Support waste reduction efforts within the team to increase efficiencies and solve problems so they don't recur.
Utilize data within the Learning Management System to guide discussions with Leadership on future strategies for training.
Partner with the Operational Certification Committee(s) and Operator Qualification to maintain contractual and federal requirements for training.
Manage budget for direct teams
Align with Union apprenticeship committees and work with them to determine training needs and support development of new training. Participate in other business partner sessions as requested (Generation, Fleet, Facilities, Renewables, Gas, Elec Ops etc.)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
7+ years
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in OM&C (electric lines) supervision and Non-exempt (electric designers and engineers) supervision.
Experience in electric distribution design and engineering.
Experience in the risk assessment and understanding of safety in the electric industry
Sales and Marketing experience to understand the customer perspective and how system load and voltage impact our customers.
Field experience in the electric distribution network both in Underground and Electric.
Experience in scheduling work to our field resources
Experience in developing and delivering simple and complex training in storm response and electric design
Comfortable speaking in front of a small or large groups.
