Summary
The role of Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for evaluating and assessing low performing suppliers that are impacted operations with nonconforming material delivered to any Pace Industries facilities. This role will partner with the operations and quality team providing technical assistance in resolving any incoming material defects working directly with suppliers to ensure quality standards.
The supplier quality engineers will own end to end supplier quality including but not limited to measuring supplier performance, conducting supplier audits, maintaining supplier scorecards, investigating, and executing problem resolution tracking and assisting suppliers with developing capabilities to reduce any disruptions to the Pace supply chain. This role is heavily focused on identifying supplier concerns caused by unhealthy quality systems, lack of technical resources and the inability to find quick and sustainable solutions for recovering supply chain disruptions.
Under the direction of the Director of Supplier Development, the Supplier Quality Engineers will focus on tactical program execution for high value enterprise-wide suppliers with a spend of ~$5M+ annually. This role will serve as a supplier relationship manager spending most of the time on site at supplier facilities to help drive KPI improvements that impact service levels at Pace facilities. The goal of the supplier quality engineer is to return the supplier back to health and install a zero tolerance focus at the supplier for impacting operations or customer satisfaction. When required, the SQE will provide data to the corporate purchasing shared service team to transition away from troubled suppliers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with the development and continuous improvement of a supplier development strategy for Pace Industries in support of the new purchasing shared services department that will assist suppliers with performance on cost, quality, and delivery to Pace facilities
Work closely with the Pace Supplier Development team to identify, qualify, and manage a highly capable supply base and drive the utilization of preventive or corrective improvement projects using quality systems, tools, and processes to achieve the performance goals
Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, OPEX and Operations to ensure supplier sourcing, launch and on-going performance meeting defined targets and overall business needs for all new product launches
Lead annual and quarterly supplier audits (as required)
Work with internal process owners to perform root cause analysis and carry out robust corrective actions for internal and customer issues
Support continuous improvement projects and activities at the supplier
Integrate lessons learned in the plant quality processes
Support plant quality systems and deployment tasks, material disposition and quality training activities
Builds functional excellence and organizational capability by developing commodity/process expertise, through development planning that supports business needs
Maintain Supplier Rating System and reporting of supplier performance in terms of Parts Per Million Defects (PPMD), On time delivery and other Key Performance Indicators (KPI) as defined
Assist with report creation and analysis to support supplier development initiatives
Support and coordinate with engineers to implement VAVE improvements
Work with suppliers on development of lean activities within their production to initiate cost and quality improvements in error proofing, measurement techniques in support of Product Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
Validate new suppliers based on program guidelines and measuring reliability, product quality, process capability, and cost-efficiency
Performs other duties deemed necessary by the VP or Director of Supplier Development
Executes standards and deploy Pace Industries supplier quality and development policies, procedures, and tools

Qualifications
5 - 10 years in automotive (preferred) or related manufacturing industry
Minimum 3 years' experience working in a Quality Assurance or Supplier Development role
3+ years of experience working in supplier management, purchasing, strategic sourcing, operations, or supply chain
Solid supplier management, operations, manufacturing, and supply chain background
Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in business management, mathematics, engineering, supply chain management, logistics or a related analytical or technical field
Strong business acumen around supplier development, manufacturing, planning, purchasing, strategic sourcing, inventory, and supply chain management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with supplier development software and performance management tracking tools
Experience participating in a supplier development program and driving supplier improvement initiatives
