PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To develop and execute the global product business strategy in order to maximize revenue and profitability in the Aspen portfolio.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: – Other duties may be assigned and product categories of responsibility changed to meet the needs of the business
- Manages the product lifecycle from inception, concept, design to defining product lifecycle actions such as retiring products and phase in/out
- Oversees the product performance during the customer lifecycle, including profitability
- Drives the development and execution of product roadmaps, requirements and profitability plans integrating inputs from sales, marketing, engineering, sourcing, and other cross-functional stakeholders
- Identifies and sets product line extensions and market expansion opportunities into motion in coordination with engineering and sales leadership
- Coordinates with Corporate Accounts to leverage portfolio for new business opportunities
- Coordinates with Director of M&A to identify portfolio gaps that could be addressed by acquisition. Participates in commercial due diligence activities and acquisition integration as appropriate
- Involved with measuring the effectiveness of the overall product portfolio and programs within the assigned category; helps translate strategic plans into tactical activities with measurable objectives
- Specifies market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
- Leads the international product strategy including defining priorities for product registrations and supporting international sales with sales trainings and market intel as needed
- Leads/oversees the development of overarching strategic plan for market launches, sales product training, messaging, and positioning in coordination with marketing communications team
- Prepares and/or oversees the preparation of new product forecasting
- Leverages customer insights from the field to inform product line extension and/or acquisition pipeline for this category. Provides voice of the customer support to engineering and other departments as necessary
- Conducts/oversees regular reviews of product data to ensure that the field force is kept up to date on new developments regarding the companies or competitors’ products
- Provides the sales team with necessary technical expertise to enable them to sell the product
- Provides sales support to National Accounts: bids & tender support, technical sales support, customer meetings for roadmap presentations
- Serves as the internal and external presenter for the products of responsibility, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers
- Approximately two trips per month making customer visits to obtain product insights or traveling with sales reps to support trails, evaluations, or in-service activities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- 5-8 though 8-10 years of professional experience preferred with some combination of consulting, sales, product management, marketing, and/or R&D (preferably with labor & delivery or women’s health products)
- Experience working within a regulated industry or knowledge of ISO13485 preferred
- Technical understanding and skills to transmit market requirements to R&D
- Deep and broad marketing expertise including previous roles in product management
- Knowledge of OR environment and procedures preferred
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to facilitate large group meetings to a successful outcome
- Proven ability to influence others, including those globally dispersed, in other functions, and in more senior positions
- Strong multi-tasking ability and comfort with leading initiatives across multiple areas at the same time
