The team lead will oversee the process with a certain value stream.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Responsible for all training and cross-training within the assigned Value Stream (VS).
- Fill in for missing team members if required.
- Establish standard work and work sequence and hold operators accountable.
- Plan daily production for the team and communicate it visually (i.e. day-by-hour charts); understand and communicate customer tact times.
- Understand capacity constraints and adjust workforce to meet customer needs.
- Anticipate and eliminate problems that may affect the team’s ability to perform.
- Lead a start-of-shift 5 minute meeting to discuss previous day’s safety, quality, delivery and cost performance and current day’s plan. Ensure team improvement board is updated and accurate. Interact with Value Stream Team during morning cadence.
- Responsible to maintain 5(6)S, cell audits, team improvement board, and all other visual management tools.
- Responsible for daily/weekly audits including 5(6)S, approving finished unit product quality prior to leaving the department, system quality, process, ISO 9001, 2nd level work cell, Behavior Based Safety, Kanban, etc.
- Provide input to Value Stream Leader regarding Performance Management of operators.
- Lead continuous improvement events within designated team.
- Perform all other duties, as required.
- Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling can be expected.
- Long periods of sitting and walking can also be expected in this position.
- Use of basic tools and equipment.
- Work environment:
- Occasional exposure to typical manufacturing areas may be required and will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
- The work environment will include their own workstation or cubicle space equipped with a telephone, headset and computer as required for the job.
- Team member must be mobile enough to navigate the manufacturing shop floor safely including walking and standing for up to four hours at a time.
NOTE: Certain positions such as Poly Line and Facilities Maintenance departments Team Leaders are on call and available 24 hours/day to respond to and handle department needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

- Associates degree in a technical discipline preferred; High School diploma is acceptable.
- Must be able to successfully perform all jobs in the department.
- Position requires a good knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Effective interpersonal skills are essential.
- Leadership, coaching, problem solving and decision-making skills required.
- Trained in Lean/Six Sigma applications.
- Demonstrated competency using computer programs; MRP/ERP and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Displays a proactive and positive approach to lead others in continuous improvement activities.
