Primary Responsibilities
Do you have a passion for power industry and looking for a graduate position with a nationally ranked company? If you do then HDR has a position for you! The HDR Ann Arbor, MI team of power delivery professionals has an opportunity for Substation EIT/Designer candidates.
The primary duties of a Substation EIT/Designer include preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage) and substation systems under the direction and supervision of more senior engineers and designers. The successful ideal candidate will be seeking knowledge and experience in both the Protection and Control (Indoor) and Physical (Outdoor) aspects of High Voltage (HV) Substation design.
- Communicate with Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
- Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings.
- Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements
- Work collaboratively under the direction of the Project Managers and Project Engineers
- Prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications for construction work packages.
- Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop drawings compliant with national design standards, safety codes, and project specific requirements
- Work on designs that typically include one-line diagrams, protection, and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cabling sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.
- Some travel may be required.
- All other duties as assigned.
