Position Summary
Demand Planning & Purchasing Manager leads the operational demand forecast and purchase of orders to fulfill business unit levels that maximize profit and minimize shrink and or waste. Present forecast accuracy, lead time, and other relevant supply chain metrics to drive results through a collaborative process. Demand Planning managers are responsible for managing, assisting, and training Demand Planners and Purchasing Agents in the above-mentioned process, and executing purchase orders to maintain inventory levels at the business units to maximize gross profit.
Position Responsibilities May Include, But Not Limited To
Lead the Sales and Operations Planning process for Demand Planning.
Drive and influence KPI results: forecast accuracy, lead time, etc.
Lead development of the annual demand plan in alignment with the annual revenue plan.
Provide to Supply Planning and supplier team updates on significant forecast changes.
Provide a forecast to assist Supply Planning on managing inventories to assure the highest possible level of customer service while achieving company inventory targets. Support the management of excess and obsolete finished goods inventories. Support key performance improvement initiatives.
Ensure efficacy of the Demand Plan and optimal customer fulfillment.
People Management in retaining, attracting, and developing talent.
Manage and provide guidance to Demand Planners/Buyers integrating, consolidating, and communicating the demand plan to Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain.
Balance workload requirements across the team to ensure successful execution.
Drive career and skill development of team members to encourage continual talent development, performance management, retention, and job satisfaction.
Effectively build formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization.
Foster open dialogue and collaboration among the team.
Deal constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes.
Other projects or duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's and/or B.S. in Engineering / Operations / Supply Chain Management
5 years of experience in Supply Chain or related experience
Extensive functional knowledge of demand planning, forecasting, procurement, and other related areas.
Experience leading projects, and/or business teams or providing key technical expertise
Experience working with external clients
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to prepare executive level presentations
Detail-orientated with strong analytical and math skills
Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills and ability to provide leadership through influence.
Able to deal with changin
