The Application Design Specialist-New Product Commercialization position is an exciting opportunity that will significantly influence new products and how we bring them to market. We are looking for a self-motivated individual that has a passion for workplace design and excels in using design insights to influence the direction of product development. You will work in a fast-paced, performance driven environment with a focus on creating the toolset and training that bring clarity and ease of use to new product launches. This position is based out of Holland, MI and will work across all Herman Miller Workplace Categories globally.

Inside the Job
Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Creating Applications: Articulate applications with CET, SketchUp, CAD Pack, and third-party design tools to create new product applications for product launch materials (i.e., photography, thought starters, other visual assets), showrooms, and exhibits
- Advising and Consulting: Engaging in the design and development process and providing feedback to the develop team to drive product criteria throughout the new product commercialization process
- Simplifying: Reduce complexities in new product introductions through toolset creation and design training-making them relevant, understandable, and digestible
- Symbol Development: Lead a cross-functional team driving the symbol development process for CET, CADPack, SketchUp, Revit, and other 2D and 3D design tools to support new product commercialization
- Elevating product launch: Photoshoots, planning guides, symbol development, toolset creation, design training
What You Bring
Needed skills and experience for this role include:
- A Bachelor's degree in Interior, Architectural, or Facility Design from an accredited program, or another relevant academic discipline
- Five to seven years of industry experience with a furniture manufacturer or dealer
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, CET, and Adobe InDesign. Experience with Adobe Illustrator is preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing work environment and at all levels of the organization
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cooperatively both in a team environment and independently to develop enriched solutions
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully coordinate efforts of internal and external resources
- Applied knowledge of the contract furniture industry, design industry and consumer trends
