Join Cardno's Science and Environment team focused in Eastern Michigan out of our Brighton, MI office to help provide business development and environmental consulting specific to wetland delineation and threatened and endangered species surveys, project management, and environmental permitting and compliance.Job Description:
Cardno is looking for a mid to senior Wetland Scientist to help promote business development and consulting in eastern Michigan. This position would be focused around our Brighton, MI office under the direction of one of our Senior Project Ecologists.
Responsibilities include:
> Conduct professional wetland delineations according to the USACE Wetland Determination Manual (1987) and corresponding supplements. Strong knowledge of all three parameters and experience with atypical wetland situations.
> Conduct disturbed site wetland delineations according the USACE wetland methodology
> Business development skills to promote to attract and maintain consulting clients.
> Experience with the Michigan and Federal regulatory processes.
>Technical writing experience for reports and permit applications
> Experience with other county and local regulatory processes
> Project management experience and the ability to manage large-scale projects.
> Manage at least 6-10 projects (large and small)
> Representation of Cardno conference attendance, presentations, and publishing articles.
> Overnight travel/flexible for multiple days of travel away from home office
> Involvement in at least one local/state conservation group and growth to a leadership position
Qualifications:
> Bachelor's Degree or higher
> 8 or more years of experience conducting wetland delineations, regulatory permitting, and business development.
> Overnight travel
> Flexibility to work 8-12 hour days, seasonally
> Strong plant identification skills
> Proficient at Technical Writing
> Good oral and written communication with clients, supervisors, and staff
> Professional Wetland Scientist certification preferred
Technical Requirements:
> Strong wetland delineation skills including atypical wetland methodology.
> Botanical or Wildlife experience is a plus.
> Understanding and use of regulatory manuals, plant keys,
> Operation of Trimble Global Positioning System and ARC GIS online are a plus
> Knowledge and experience with the EGLE, MDNR, MNFI, USFWS and USACE agencies.
> You should be proficient in technical writing and be willing to publish articles and provide public presentations
> Knowledge of NEPA and FERC processes are a plus.
> Knowledge of Wind Energy Guidelines is a plus.
