P.I.E. Management, L.L.C., a local staffing company, is looking to hire three (3) Protective Services Officer - One for first shift, One for second shift, and One for third shift. The position will average twenty four (24) hours per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor does the listed examples include all tasks which may be found or asked of employees in this class.)
*Patrols a designated parking area or structure on foot or in a vehicle.
Investigates and reports on concerns or complaints including minor motor vehicle incidents.
*Responds to radio transmissions and other forms of communication regarding calls for services.
*Escorts customers both via motor vehicles and by foot.
*Administers first aid or CPR as appropriate.
*Interviews persons with complaints or inquiries and attempts to make the proper disposition or direct them to the proper authority.
*Checks parking lots for occupancy and reports regarding conditions to others. Third shift watches parking structures especially for homeless and must have them leave and go to other facilities.
*Assists disabled motorists as appropriate (getting keys out of locked car, changing flat tire, using jumper cables, etc).
*Prepares written and presents oral reports regarding situations involving concerns or complaints, equipment conditions, parking area recommendations, etc…
*Type reports taken above - must be able to use email and word processing program on personal computer. Spell and use grammar correctly in writing correctly.
*Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

* Completes incident report form correctly using appropriate format and grid/lined area to detail report information.
* Articulates in a clear, calm, and understandable manner at all times especially while using the radio system; avoids jargon which may cause miscommunications.
- Equipment Usage:
* Clearly identifies unit number during radio usage.
* Maintains ALL equipment in a highly functional capacity.
a. Flashlight, batteries, switches, lens
b. Radio itself, antenna, and rechargeable battery
c. Motor vehicles fluid levels, tire inflation, interior and exterior cleanliness, etc..
d. Equipment within the motor vehicle, i.e. first aid kit, jump starting cables, flashlight, spot lamp, spare tire and jack, etc…
* Checks and maintains the dry erase communication board for current messages and information.
* Checks work area for memos or informational items.
* Maintains radio volume and channel control on the proper channel so as to promote efficient communication.
* Utilizes radio antennas in a vertical format and away from objects which may detune it when in marginal radio transmit and receive areas.
* Utilizes access cards in the proper manner.
* Fuels motor vehicles regularly and performs minor maintenance procedures.
* Reports, both orally and in writing, observed damage to any City property, giving details related to the situation.
- Patrol and Post Technique:
* Operates vehicles in a safe and reasonable manner, including but not limited to speed limits on the roadways, driving less that 5 mph within parking areas, as appropriate operating vehicle with drivers and passengers window down, slowing down for bumps or dips in lot or road surfaces or entering or exiting parking areas.
* Assesses department and area equipment and status for shortages or needs; reports potential shortages/needs to supervision to avoid crises at subsequent time.
* Communicates and coordinates with other shift members any uncompleted tasks or responsibilities if other calls pre-empt them from completing duties.
* Demonstrates knowledge of the concerns or issues within the different parking areas so as to demonstrate highly visible and random patrol of the City parking areas, grounds and perimeters.
* Responds to security calls via the most effective route for the situation at hand.
* Maintains high visibility (ex: overhead lights on, walking with flashlight on in dark parking area, wears “Security” labeled uniform jacket especially during high periods of customer traffic in our parking areas (high visibility may include wearing an orange reflective vest at all times, as well as speaking and identifying themselves to customers as Security/ PSO’s).
* Recognizes and responds appropriately to potential problems encountered in the course of patrol. Is aware of the need to assist customers using positive behaviors supportive of our Mission Statement.
* Patrols all stairwells, elevators, and skywalk ways within City’s scope of responsibility regularly but randomly.

* Utilizes safety related equipment in an appropriate manner, ex:
* Applies and adheres to department procedures as it relates to vacation, time off or illness rules.
Occasional exposure to potential injuries (ex: slips or falls in snow, icy or wet conditions), body fluids while rendering first aid, to auto or vehicle exhaust, noise and dirty conditions.
Working Conditions:
Routine exposure to severe weather (cold, heat, humidity, wind, rain, snow, ice, etc..) noise, dirt. May at times be on ones feet walking or standing post inside or outside. May at times spend hours within the confines of a patrol vehicle. Some exposure to boisterous, rude, or intoxicated persons, some may be aggressive.
Essential Functions:
