Summary:
Provides coverage for therapists when they are called to patient conferences during patient treatment times, if applicable. Helps therapists and therapy assistants in preparation of patients for therapy services. Performs routine tasks as assigned by the therapists and the therapy assistants.

Age Specific Responsibility:
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned department. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
A. Provides patient care as requested by therapist:
- Transports and transfers patients observing safety precautions and good body mechanics.
- Following competency validation, applies therapeutic modalities, as assigned by therapist
- Carries out specific patient care activities under direction/supervision of primary therapist or assistant.
B . Monitors patient response to treatments and provides written/verbal feedback to therapist and therapy assistants.
C. Maintains a clean and orderly workplace:
- Acquires and replaces equipment and supplies in proper place following treatment.
- Cleans and maintains equipment according to department infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintains storage and inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains adequate clean linen supply and changes linen in accordance with established guidelines.
- Maintains treatment areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Monitors and maintains regulatory safety procedures related to cleaning and disinfecting equipment per manufacturers' guidelines and organizational policy.
D. Assists in maintaining charts, filing and retrieving records as requested.
E. Functions as patient advocate and maintains patient confidentiality.
F. May order and maintain inventory as assigned by supervisor.
G. May supervise volunteers/support staff as assigned.
H. Supports program operations as assigned.

Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possesses and maintains Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider
certification to meet department/program protocol.
- The ability to communicate in both written and verbal format.
- Physical Demands
- The physical ability to lift, position, and transport patients.
- The ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, grasp, reach, and occasionally climb.
- The ability to hear, speak, write, and see (correctable vision).
- The ability to frequently lift up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift in excess of 75 pounds.
- The ability to occasionally push, pull, or carry weight anywhere from 1 to 100+ pounds while assisting patients and moving equipment.
- The ability to exert up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-20 pounds of force frequently, and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
Other Preferred Job Qualifications:
Previous work experience as a rehabilitation technician.
Experience working with persons with disabilities in a comprehensive rehabilitation setting.

Program Supervisor, Team Leader or appropriate Department Manager
