Summary
This position is under the general direction of the Plant Manager and performs leadership duties that will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Generation Plant. Perform all duties in compliance with plant policies, procedures, rules, and regulations pertaining to operations, safety, conduct, and housekeeping. Protect the Owner's investment in machinery, equipment and facilities by exercising care, skill and knowledge.
Job Description
- Oversee the monitoring, inspection, and control of all power production, auxiliary and facility equipment to ensure safe, legal, continuous and efficient operation.
- Ensure that plant emissions and effluents are within limits.
- Take action necessary to prevent any safety violations, environmental excursions, or production loss.
- Direct and train other in the inspection, repair, and operation of the facility; assist in the training of the O&M Technicians.
- Assist Plant Manager in development and monitoring of plant budget, operating plan, and development of technicians.
- Continually develops knowledge of the Plant and power plants in general.
- Provide hands-on leading-edge approaches to the facility's safety, health and training program.
- Follow the Environmental QA/QC Manual and ensure compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit required reports to the Plant Manager for the Owner and/or utility. Oversee the daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records.
- Maintain plant manuals and assure that operating policies and procedures are kept up-to-date.
- Report discrepancies in operation and/or conditions in a timely manner.
- Provide general directions to subordinate classifications.
- Perform assigned tasks in the qualification program for the Technicians.
- Generate maintenance work order requests and purchases requisition requests.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of study is desired.Less than a Bachelor's degree will be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
- Knowledge of environmental QA/QC Manual and ensure compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements
- Five or more years ofapplicable experience.

Essential Functions
The O&S Manager operates from established and well-known procedures, performing duties independently with only general direction given. Decisions are made within policy constraints. The O&S Manager encounters new and varied work situations, involving a high degree of complexity.The O&S Manager must ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner resulting in no mishaps, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The O&S Manager, must effectively communicate information to the Plant Manager, fellow supervisors, and subordinate operation and maintenance personnel, relative* to the condition of the plant equipment and performance, and provide suggestions for plant improvement. The O&S Manager must ensure duties are performed in such a way as to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio. All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer's needs are being met.
Hours and Travel
This position requires the individual to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with a majority of the time spent at a specific plant location. Individual needs to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or assist with outage activities and could be given very short notice to do so. Individual should be willing to participate in the on call rotation in case of potential outages. Individual may have to work outside of assigned headquarters to help with outages or project which may require overnight stays. Could potentially work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the business, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime. Individual must have a valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements include: possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required. All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions.
